And the Lord had regard for Abel and his offering.

Genesis 4:4 does not tell us why God had regard for Abel’s offering. It does not explain the full reasoning behind His acceptance. What it does tell us is that God noticed. He paid attention. He responded to what Abel brought in faith.
This matters deeply when you are in a waiting season. You have brought your prayers, your faithfulness, your quiet obedience before the Lord. You have offered what you have, not knowing when or how God will respond. In the silence, doubt can creep in. Did He see? Does it matter? Was it enough?
Abel’s story answers with clarity. God had regard for him. That word “regard” carries the weight of attention, favor, and recognition. It means God looked closely. He considered. He valued what was given.
You may not see the result of your offering today. You may not feel the breakthrough or hear the answer you have been asking for. But that does not mean God has not regarded what you have brought Him. His timing does not diminish His attention.
Think of it like planting a seed in soil you cannot see through. You place it in the ground, cover it, water it, and wait. For days, maybe weeks, there is no visible change. But beneath the surface, something is happening. The seed is breaking open. Roots are forming. Growth is occurring in the dark, in the waiting, long before anything breaks through the soil.
Your obedience in this season is like that seed. God is at work even when you cannot see it. His regard for your faithfulness is not dependent on immediate results. He sees the heart behind the offering, and that is what He honors.
Abel did not bring his offering because he knew the outcome. He brought it because he trusted God. That trust, that act of bringing what he had in faith, was what mattered. And God responded not with a transaction, but with regard.
When you are tempted to measure your faith by visible results, remember this verse. God’s regard is not always loud. It is not always immediate. But it is steady, and it is sure.
You do not need to manufacture a breakthrough. You do not need to prove that your offering was worth it. You simply need to trust that God sees, and that His seeing is enough to sustain you while His timing unfolds.
This is not passive resignation. This is active trust. It is choosing to believe that God’s attention is on you even when His answer has not yet arrived. It is continuing to bring your heart, your work, your prayers before Him, not because you can control the outcome, but because you know He is faithful.
Abel’s offering was regarded. Yours is too. God is not ignoring you. He is not distant. He is present, attentive, and at work in ways you may not yet see. Trust Him in the waiting. Trust that His regard is real, even when His timing is still unfolding.
