Zechariah 1:13 gives us a quiet glimpse into the way God responds to those who call on Him. In this passage, the prophet Zechariah is receiving visions during a season of uncertainty for Israel. The temple is being rebuilt, but the people are weary, discouraged, and unsure of the future. In the middle of their struggle, an angel speaks with God on their behalf. And God’s response is striking. He does not scold. He does not dismiss. He answers with good and comforting words.
This verse matters because it tells you something true about God’s character. When you are in a season of waiting, when the path forward feels unclear, when you are tired of trying to figure everything out on your own, God is not silent. He is not indifferent. He speaks, and what He speaks is good.
You may be in a pruning season right now. Maybe God is cutting away things that once felt secure, stripping back what you thought you needed, reshaping your expectations. Pruning is not punishment. It is preparation. But that does not make it easy. It can feel lonely. It can feel like loss before it feels like growth.
In those moments, you need more than advice. You need more than someone telling you to stay strong or push through. You need to hear from God Himself. This is wisdom for the pruning season. Wisdom is not always about knowing what to do next. Sometimes it is about learning how to listen. It is about quieting the noise of fear, comparison, or urgency long enough to hear what God is actually saying. His words may not answer every question you have. But they will be enough for today.
God does not waste His words. When He speaks comfort, He is not distracting you from reality. He is grounding you in something truer than what you feel. He is reminding you that He is present, that He sees you, and that He is working even when the work is hidden.
You do not have to manufacture peace on your own. You do not have to convince yourself that everything is fine when it is not. You can bring your weariness, your questions, and your doubts to God, and He will respond. Not with silence. Not with criticism. With good and comforting words.

Set aside a few minutes today to sit quietly before God and ask Him to speak to you. You do not need to say much. Simply bring your heart as it is and wait.
