Joshua 6:20
When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city.
The walls of Jericho did not fall on the first march. They did not fall on the second or the third. For six days, the Israelites circled the city in silence, following God’s strange instructions without seeing any visible change. Then on the seventh day, after the final circuit, the people shouted and the walls came down.
This moment teaches you something vital about obedience and breakthrough. God often asks you to keep walking, keep trusting, and keep showing up even when nothing appears to be happening. The breakthrough does not always arrive on your timeline. It arrives when your faithfulness meets God’s perfect moment.

The Israelites had every reason to doubt. God’s battle plan made no military sense. Marching silently around a fortified city with trumpets and an ark would not topple stone walls by human logic. Yet they obeyed, day after day, without evidence that anything was working.
You may be living in your own silent march right now. You have been faithful in prayer, consistent in obedience, steady in the small things God has asked of you. But the walls still stand. The situation has not shifted. The answer has not come. You wonder if your obedience even matters.
What Joshua 6:20 reveals is that persistent obedience is never wasted. Every lap around Jericho mattered, even the ones that felt pointless. God was working beneath the surface in ways the Israelites could not see. The walls were not falling yet, but they were being prepared to fall at precisely the right moment.
Your faithfulness today is building toward something. The quiet mornings you chose to pray when nothing seemed to change. The days you obeyed when no one noticed. The moments you trusted God’s word over your frustration. None of it has been lost. God is positioning you for breakthrough, and He is doing it through the steady rhythm of your obedience.
Think of it like this. A farmer does not plant seeds one day and harvest the next. There are long stretches when the ground looks unchanged. But beneath the surface, roots are forming, growth is happening, and the harvest is being prepared. Your obedience is that underground work. It matters even when you cannot measure it yet.
The Israelites also had to recognize the moment when persistence turned into action. On the seventh day, after the final march, they were told to shout. That shout was not doubt or frustration. It was faith made audible. It was the sound of a people who believed God would do what He promised, even before they saw the stones fall.
You may be standing at that seventh-day moment right now. You have been faithful, you have walked the laps, and now God is calling you to respond in faith before the walls move. That might look like praising Him in the middle of uncertainty. It might mean taking the next step of obedience even though you are tired. It might mean choosing trust over control when everything in you wants to force a solution.
Breakthrough does not always feel dramatic. Sometimes it is quiet and internal before it becomes visible and external. The walls fall when your heart has been shaped through the process of waiting. God is not withholding breakthrough to frustrate you. He is refining your trust so that when the walls do fall, you know beyond doubt that it was His power, not your effort, that brought the victory.
If you are still in the silent march, keep walking. Your obedience is not invisible to God. If you are being called to shout, do not hold back. Let your faith rise even before your circumstances shift. The walls are coming down. You may not control the timeline, but you can trust the One who does.
