Genesis 6:1 is not dramatic. It does not contain a promise or a command. It simply states a fact: humanity was growing. Families were being born. Life was moving forward in its normal rhythm.
But God was watching. He was aware. And in the verses that follow, we see that He was preparing to act in ways no one could have anticipated.
This is what the waiting season often feels like. You are living your life. Going through your routines. Watching the world continue around you. And underneath it all, you are wondering when God will move. When the promise will arrive. When the breakthrough will come.
You might be waiting for clarity about your calling. You might be waiting for healing in a relationship. You might be waiting for a door to open or a burden to lift. And in the meantime, life keeps going. People around you seem to be moving forward. Time passes. And you wonder if God has forgotten.
But He has not.
The truth woven into Genesis 6:1 is this: God is always aware of what is unfolding. He is not surprised by the passage of time. He is not passive in the ordinary moments. He is sovereign over every season, including the ones that feel like nothing is happening.
Trusting God while His timing is still unfolding means believing that He is actively at work even when you cannot see evidence of it yet. It means refusing to interpret silence as absence. It means recognizing that God’s preparation often happens in the background, long before the moment of revelation arrives.
Think of a farmer planting seeds. The ground looks the same for weeks. There is no visible growth. No sign of progress. But beneath the surface, roots are forming. Strength is building. Life is preparing to break through.
That is what God is doing in your waiting season. He is not stalling. He is not ignoring your prayers. He is preparing you, shaping circumstances, aligning His purposes in ways you cannot yet perceive.
The challenge is not to demand that God show you the full picture now. The challenge is to trust Him with the part of the story you cannot yet see.
This does not mean waiting passively. It does not mean shutting down emotionally or pretending you are not struggling. It means bringing your questions, your doubts, and your weariness to God honestly, and then choosing to believe that His timing is trustworthy even when it does not match your own.
In Genesis 6:1, no one knew what was coming. The ordinary rhythm of life gave no indication that a flood was on the horizon. But God was aware. He was preparing Noah. He was setting the stage for redemption and rescue.
You do not know what God is preparing in your life right now. You do not know what He is protecting you from or what He is positioning you for. But you can trust that He sees the full timeline. He knows what you need and when you need it.
Waiting is not wasted time when it is spent with God. It becomes the soil in which trust deepens, patience grows, and faith is refined.
So if you are in a season where nothing seems to be happening, take heart. God has not stepped away. He is present in the stillness. He is attentive in the silence. And when His timing arrives, you will see that He was working all along.
