Genesis 6:13
So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.”
God spoke clearly to Noah about what was coming. The earth was filled with violence, and judgment was certain. But between this word and the flood itself lay years of obedience, construction, and waiting. Noah heard God’s plan before he saw God’s action. He knew the what and the why. The when remained hidden in God’s timing.
This verse marks the beginning of a long season of trust for Noah. He would build an ark on dry ground while the world carried on as usual. He would endure the questions, the skepticism, and the weight of preparing for something no one else believed was coming.

God’s word to Noah in Genesis 6:13 was both clear and heavy. He told Noah exactly what He was going to do and why. The earth had become corrupt, filled with violence, and God’s judgment was coming. But this word came long before the rain began to fall.
Noah did not step into the ark the day God spoke to him. He stepped into years of preparation. He gathered materials, built according to God’s specific instructions, and waited while the world continued as if nothing would change. He trusted a promise not yet fulfilled and obeyed a command that made sense to no one watching.
You may find yourself in a similar place. God has spoken something to you. Maybe it is a calling you feel deeply but have not yet stepped into. Maybe it is a promise you are holding while circumstances remain unchanged. Maybe it is a clear instruction that requires ongoing obedience without immediate results.
Waiting seasons test our trust in God’s character more than His timing. It is easy to believe God when we see the outcome. It is harder to believe Him when we are still building, still preparing, still holding onto words spoken in quiet moments that no one else seems to understand.
Noah’s obedience was not passive. He did not sit back and wait for the flood to arrive on its own. He worked. He built. He prepared. But his work was not frantic or anxious. It was steady, grounded in what God had already said. He trusted that God’s word was enough, even when the evidence had not yet appeared.
This kind of trust requires spiritual endurance. It requires you to hold onto God’s voice when your circumstances have not caught up yet. It requires you to keep moving forward in obedience even when others question your choices or when doubt creeps in during long stretches of silence.

Noah did not need to see the rain to believe God. He simply needed to remember what God had said. That is what sustained him through every day of construction, every conversation with neighbors who did not believe, and every moment when the sky remained clear.
You do not need to see the outcome to trust God today. You simply need to remember what He has already spoken to you. His word is steady. His character is faithful. His timing, though it may feel slow, is always purposeful.
God’s plan for Noah unfolded exactly as He said it would. The flood came. The ark saved Noah’s family. God’s word proved true. But Noah’s faith was proven long before the rain began. It was proven in the years of quiet, faithful obedience when nothing around him confirmed what God had said.
That is the trust God is building in you now. Not trust that requires constant signs or immediate answers, but trust that holds steady because you know who God is and you believe what He has said.
