Genesis 6:5
The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.
This verse appears just before one of Scripture’s most dramatic moments: God’s decision to send the flood. But there’s something we often miss when we’re waiting on God. Genesis 6:5 reveals that God sees. He observes. He takes account. Before He acts, He watches the fullness of a situation unfold.
This isn’t a verse we typically turn to for comfort. It feels heavy, even sobering. Yet it holds something essential for anyone in a season of waiting: God’s timing is never passive. His delays are not distractions. His silence is not absence. He is watching, assessing, and preparing to move at exactly the right moment.

We live in a world that rewards speed. We expect instant answers, quick results, immediate clarity. But God does not operate on our timetable. Genesis 6:5 shows us a God who observes fully before He responds. He does not react impulsively. This can be difficult when we’re in a waiting season. We wonder why God hasn’t answered our prayers yet. We question whether He’s paying attention. We feel stuck, uncertain, sometimes forgotten. But Genesis 6:5 reminds us that God’s ability to see is not limited by our perspective. He sees not just the surface, but the heart. Not just the moment, but the pattern. In the same way, God sees your situation fully. He knows what you’re facing. He understands what is unfolding in your life, in your relationships, in your heart. And He will act at the right time.
Trusting God while His timing is still unfolding doesn’t mean pretending everything is fine. It doesn’t mean suppressing your questions or emotions. It means choosing to believe that God’s vision is clearer than yours. It means acknowledging that while you see only a piece of the story, He sees the whole narrative. His delays are not denials. His silence is not indifference.
Think of it this way. A surgeon doesn’t operate the moment a patient walks into the room. First, there are tests. Scans. Consultations. The surgeon observes the full picture before making the first incision. God is not slow. He is thorough. He is not distant. He is discerning. And when He moves, it will be with precision, care, and purpose.
You may be in a season where it feels like nothing is happening. You’ve prayed, waited, and trusted, but the breakthrough hasn’t come. You’ve been faithful, but the answer still feels far away. Genesis 6:5 doesn’t minimize that struggle. Instead, it invites you to trust that God is watching over every detail. He is not unaware. He is not uninvolved. He is seeing what you cannot see, and He is preparing to act at exactly the right moment.
Waiting is not wasted time in God’s kingdom. It’s the season where trust is built, where faith deepens, where we learn to surrender our need for control. God is not only preparing the answer. He is preparing you to receive it.
