Revelation 1:8

Verse of the Day

Revelation 1:8

“‘I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.'”

Quiet Prayer

Lord God, You are the One who is, who was, and who is to come. When my days feel uncertain or fragile, steady me with the truth of who You are. Teach my heart to rest in Your eternal strength instead of my own limited understanding. I offer this moment and all that concerns me into Your faithful hands, and I quietly trust You.

Devotional Reflection

In just a few words, this verse stretches our eyes from eternity past to eternity future. God does not introduce Himself by explaining us. He introduces Himself by revealing Himself.

Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. It is as if God is saying, “I am the beginning and the end, and everything in between rests in Me.” Nothing in your life started outside His knowledge, and nothing will end outside His presence.

Think of a long, winding river. The surface currents change with every bend, yet far beneath, the deep water moves with a steady, quiet force. Your circumstances are like the surface, shifting and sometimes unsettling. God is the deep current, unhurried and unchanged.

You may be watching children leave home, caring for aging parents, facing a diagnosis, or simply feeling the weight of time. In each season, this is still true: He is, He was, and He is to come. You are not moving through disconnected chapters. You are held within the story of the Almighty, who has never once lost track of you.

Let this verse be more than a title for God. Let it become a resting place for your heart.

Quick Next Step

Write Revelation 1:8 on a small card and place it where you will see it often, whispering, “You are the Alpha and the Omega” each time your eyes pass over it.
