Verse of the Day
Romans 4:20-21
“Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”
Quiet Prayer
Faithful God, I bring to you the places where I quietly doubt your promises and fear disappointment. Strengthen my faith as you strengthened Abraham, and teach my heart to give you glory even while I wait. Help me to be more persuaded by your character than by what I see or feel. Settle my soul in the confidence that you have the power to do what you have promised.
Devotional Reflection
These words describe Abraham, but they are written for you, too. God wants you to see what a heart anchored in his promise looks like.
Abraham did not have an easy story. He waited many years, with an aging body and an empty nursery, holding on to a promise that seemed impossible to keep. Yet Scripture says he was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God.
Notice what Abraham trusted. He did not trust his circumstances. He trusted the One who spoke. He became “fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”
Think of a woman who plants bulbs in the cold of late autumn. The ground feels hard, the air is sharp, and nothing looks alive. Yet she tucks those small bulbs into the soil because she believes spring will come. Her action rests on quiet confidence in a future she cannot yet see.
Your life may feel like that cold ground. A long-prayed-for reconciliation, a lingering illness, a child far from God, a door that will not open. It can feel painful to hope.
In those places, God invites you to shift your gaze from the promise itself to the Promiser. He has not forgotten what he said. His power has not faded with time. As you remember who God is, your faith is strengthened, and like Abraham, you give glory to God even before you see the fulfillment.
Quick Next Step
Choose one promise of God from Scripture, write it on a small card, and keep returning to it in prayer, quietly affirming that God has the power to fulfill it.
