And Eber lived thirty-four years, and became the father of Peleg.

The genealogies in Genesis trace the faithfulness of God across generations. They show us that God keeps His promises, not in a single dramatic moment, but through years of steady, unspectacular obedience. Eber lived thirty-four years before Peleg was born. That’s more than three decades of normal life. We don’t know what Eber did during those years. We don’t know if he struggled with doubt or if he wondered whether God’s promises would ever come to pass. We just know that he lived, and that his life mattered in the unfolding of God’s plan.
You may be in a season right now where nothing feels significant. You’re doing the same things day after day. You’re waiting for clarity that hasn’t come. That’s what God is doing in your life. He is not absent in the waiting. He is growing something in you that will matter in ways you cannot yet understand. Your quiet obedience, your decision to keep trusting Him even when you don’t see the next step, your willingness to live faithfully in this season. It all matters. It is all part of what He is building.
Eber didn’t know that his son Peleg would be part of the line leading to Abraham. He didn’t know that Abraham would become the father of many nations or that through his descendants, all the families of the earth would be blessed. He just lived his life. He trusted God with what was in front of him. And that was enough.
You don’t need to know the full scope of what God is doing in your life. You don’t need to understand how this season fits into the bigger story. You just need to trust that God is faithful, that He sees you, and that He is working even when you cannot see it. The waiting is not wasted time. It is part of the story He is writing.
