Isaiah 28:25
When he has leveled the surface, does he not sow caraway and scatter cumin? Does he not plant wheat in its place, barley in its plot, and spelt in its field?
God speaks through the prophet Isaiah about the careful work of a farmer. This isn’t random activity. The farmer levels the ground, then plants each seed exactly where it belongs. Caraway in one place. Cumin scattered broadly. Wheat in its proper rows. Each crop receives the attention it requires.

Devotional Reflection
The farmer in this passage doesn’t throw all his seeds in one pile and hope for the best. He doesn’t skip the leveling. He doesn’t plant wheat where spelt belongs or scatter cumin where caraway should grow. He knows his craft. He trusts the process. He works with diligence and then waits.
This is the wisdom God wants you to see today. You are in a growth season, and growth requires more than enthusiasm. It requires trust in God’s timing, diligence in the work He’s given you, and patience to let the harvest develop according to His design.
Maybe you’ve been faithfully showing up in your work, your relationships, your ministry, or your personal walk with God. You’ve done what you know to do. You’ve been consistent. But the abundance you long for hasn’t arrived yet. You’re tempted to wonder if you’re doing something wrong or if God has forgotten the seeds you’ve planted.
Here’s what this verse reveals. God doesn’t work carelessly. He doesn’t overlook the details of your life. Just as the farmer knows exactly which seed goes where, God knows exactly what He’s planted in you and what He’s preparing to bring forth. The delay is not neglect. It’s precision.
Think about the farmer again. After he plants, there’s a season where nothing visible happens. The ground looks the same. But beneath the surface, roots are forming. Growth is happening. The harvest is being prepared in the darkness before it ever breaks through the soil.
You may be in that hidden season right now. The work feels repetitive. The results feel distant. But Scripture reminds us that God is not careless with what He’s planted in your life. He is intentional. He is wise. He is faithful to bring about harvest abundance in His time.
This verse also speaks to the variety of what God grows. The farmer doesn’t plant only one crop. He plants caraway, cumin, wheat, barley, and spelt. Each has a different purpose. Each requires different care. Each matures at a different pace.
God is doing the same in your life. He’s not growing just one thing. He’s cultivating patience and also courage. He’s developing your gifts and also your character. He’s preparing you for ministry and also for rest. The abundance He has in mind isn’t one-dimensional. It’s rich, varied, and exactly suited to the calling He’s placed on your life.
Your role is not to force the harvest. It’s to continue in faithful diligence. Keep showing up. Keep doing the work God has placed in front of you. Keep trusting that He knows what He’s doing, even when you can’t see the progress yet.
Harvest abundance is not about striving harder or manipulating outcomes. It’s about trusting the One who plants with wisdom, tends with care, and brings forth fruit in the season He has appointed. The farmer doesn’t panic between planting and harvest. He rests in the knowledge that growth is happening, even when it’s invisible.
God is calling you to that same rest today. Trust Him with the timing. Believe that what He’s planted will bear fruit. Keep working faithfully without demanding immediate results. This is the wisdom of the growth season. This is how you steward what God has given you and prepare to receive what He’s preparing to give.

Identify one area of your life where you’ve been faithfully planting but haven’t seen visible fruit yet. Write it down, then pray over it, asking God to help you trust His timing and continue in diligence without discouragement. Thank Him in advance for the harvest He’s preparing.
