Luke 1:68-69
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has come to His people and redeemed them. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David.”
Quiet Prayer
Lord God, I praise You because You have come near, not stayed far away. Thank You that in Jesus You have redeemed Your people, including me. When I feel weak or forgotten, remind me that You have already raised a strong salvation on my behalf. Settle my heart in the quiet confidence that You are present, faithful, and enough.
Devotional Reflection
These words were spoken by Zechariah, who had waited a long time for God to move. When he finally saw the beginning of God’s rescue plan unfolding, his first response was praise.
“He has come to His people and redeemed them.” Redemption is not distant help. It is God stepping into our real stories, our failures, our losses, our disappointments, and paying the cost to make us his own.
Then Zechariah calls Jesus “a horn of salvation,” an image of strength and solid protection. Think of a sturdy handrail on a steep staircase. You may feel shaky, but what you hold onto is strong. Salvation in Christ is like that. Your grip may feel weak, but the strength does not come from you. It comes from Him.
In the house of David, God was keeping promises that were centuries old. The same faithful God sees you, remembers what He has spoken, and has already provided everything necessary for your redemption in Christ. You do not have to earn His nearness. He has come to His people.
