Luke 22:7

Verse of the Day

Luke 22:7

Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.

This single verse marks a moment of sacred transition. The disciples stood at the threshold of the most significant Passover in history, though they didn’t yet know it. What had been observed for generations as a memorial of God’s deliverance from Egypt was about to take on new meaning. The day had come. The lamb would be sacrificed. Everything was moving toward the fulfillment God had been preparing since the beginning.

When you’re standing in a season of transition, it can feel uncertain. You sense something shifting, but you may not see the full picture yet. This verse reminds us that God works in appointed times, and He is always faithful to what He has promised.

Quiet Prayer

Father, thank You for Your faithfulness across every season of my life. Help me trust that You are at work even when I cannot see the full picture. Teach me to walk in obedience when the day comes for the next step. Give me peace in this transition, knowing You have never left me and You never will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Devotional Reflection

The Passover was not just a ritual. It was a remembrance of rescue. Every year, God’s people gathered to recall the night He delivered them from slavery in Egypt. The blood of the lamb on their doorposts had saved them from judgment. The unleavened bread reminded them they left in haste, trusting God’s timing. It was a memorial built on God’s deliverance, His power, and His promises kept.

For the disciples preparing this Passover meal, it was another observance in a long line of faithful celebrations. But God was about to reveal something they could not yet comprehend. The Passover lamb they prepared that day pointed forward to the Lamb of God who would be sacrificed for the sins of the world. What seemed like another religious duty was actually the hinge point of redemption history.

You may be in a season right now where God is preparing you for something new. It might feel like you’re simply walking through familiar rhythms, doing what you’ve always done. But God often works in the ordinary moments to set the stage for the extraordinary. The disciples didn’t wake up that morning knowing the Last Supper was coming. They simply obeyed what was required of them that day.

Obedience in transition doesn’t always come with clarity. Sometimes you take the next step simply because it’s the right thing to do, trusting that God sees what you cannot. The disciples prepared the Passover because it was time. They followed the command. They honored the tradition. And in doing so, they became part of the greatest act of love the world has ever known.

This is what a passover devotion looks like in your own life. It’s remembering where God has brought you from. It’s honoring His faithfulness in the past while trusting Him in the present. It’s preparing your heart to move forward, even when you don’t have all the answers yet.

God’s deliverance is not a one-time event. It’s a pattern woven throughout Scripture and throughout your story. He rescued Israel from Egypt. He rescued you from sin and death through Jesus. And He continues to meet you in the everyday transitions, the small obediences, the quiet trust that keeps you moving forward when everything feels uncertain.

The day of Unleavened Bread came because God ordained it. The Passover lamb had to be sacrificed because it was part of His plan. And in your life, there are moments when God says, “Now is the time.” You may not understand it fully. You may not feel ready. But His timing is always right, and His purposes are always good.

As you walk through this season of transition, let this verse remind you that God is faithful. He has delivered you before, and He will deliver you again. He is preparing something you cannot yet see, and He is inviting you to trust Him one step at a time.

Today’s Practice

Take a few minutes today to write down one way God has delivered you in the past. Thank Him for His faithfulness in that moment, and ask Him to help you trust Him in the transition you’re walking through now.
