Verse of the Day
2 Timothy 2:1
“You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”
Quiet Prayer
Lord Jesus, You know how often I feel that I must be strong for everyone. I confess how quickly I lean on my own effort and not on Your grace. Teach my heart to rest in the strength that is in You, not in my performance. Let Your quiet, faithful grace be the place where I stand and stay.
Devotional Reflection
Paul speaks as a spiritual parent to Timothy, and you can almost hear the tenderness in his words. “You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” Strength is needed, but the source of that strength is very specific. It is not your personality, your history, or your sheer determination. It is the grace that is already yours in Christ.
You may feel the pull to be strong for everyone around you. Family, work, church, aging parents, grown children, grandchildren, all seem to lean on you. There can be a quiet exhaustion under the surface, a feeling that if you stop holding everything together, it will all fall apart. Into that weight, this verse gently redirects your heart. Your calling is not to be the savior; your calling is to stand inside the strength of the Savior.
Imagine a branch trying to be strong by flexing on its own. It has no hope unless it remains connected to the vine. In the same way, grace is not a pep talk, it is a living connection to Christ. His patience when yours is gone. His mercy when you feel sharp. His wisdom when you do not know what to say or do. To be strong in grace is to keep receiving, again and again, what you cannot supply for yourself.
Quick Next Step
At some point today, pause before a task that feels heavy, breathe slowly, and whisper, “Jesus, I receive Your grace as my strength for this.”
