Matthew 26:28

Verse of the Day

Matthew 26:28

“This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

Quiet Prayer

Lord Jesus, I pause before the mystery of Your covenant love. Thank You that Your blood was poured out for the forgiveness of my sins. Where my heart still carries quiet shame or old regret, gently bring it into Your light. Teach me to receive Your forgiveness deeply, and to rest in the security of what You have already finished. Amen.

Devotional Reflection

At the Last Supper, Jesus held a simple cup and spoke a staggering truth: ‘This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.’

A covenant is not a casual promise; it is a binding relationship. In these words, Jesus is telling you that your relationship with Him is sealed, not by your performance, but by His own life poured out. Forgiveness is not something you must keep earning; it is a gift secured by His blood.

Many of us nod our heads at the word forgiveness, yet quietly live as if we are still on probation with God. We rehearse past failures, we fear that one more mistake will finally be too much, and we wonder if God is slightly disappointed every time we come to Him again.

Picture a legal debt that has been fully paid, stamped in bold letters, ‘Settled in full.’ You might still remember how large the debt once was, but the record is clear, and nothing is owed. In Christ, that is your story. His blood of the covenant means the record against you is not merely softened, it is removed.

You are invited to live as a forgiven son or daughter of God, walking not in constant apology, but in humble gratitude. When you come to the Lord, you come through a covenant written in His own blood, sure and unshakable.

Quick Next Step

At some point, sit quietly with God and name one specific sin or regret you still carry, then thank Jesus out loud that it is forgiven in Him.
